What makes MarTeck Consulting Special?

Unlike any Process Outsourcing Unit (POU), PR or a Design firm, MarTeck Consulting comprises of MarTeckers – Technology Marketers.

Since technology falls within our comfort zone, we not only take insignificant time to come upto speed with our customer’s business, but we are also able to drive communication initiatives much closer to expectations.

The word partner falls into many categories of relationships. We’d rather like to pitch ourselves as ‘value-creators’.

What’s the single biggest value MarTeck Consulting brings to the table?

I would rather say there are three significant values we bring to the table:

1. Technology understanding. We almost immediately come upto speed with our customer’s business and technology.

2. Team. We are a small team. This makes us exceptionally fast on our feet. At our present size, our customers enjoy personalized attention and service from the best in our team.

3. Philosophy. We like to think like stakeholders in any initiative. We don’t wait for instructions, we’d rather pick up the shovel and start digging. The ‘sense of urgency’ comes quite naturally.

How does the team cope with your customer's domain the very first time?

Our teams engage with customers using our proprietary M-engage System. It’s an unbilled period of time where the team understands what our customers do, how they do it, why they do it, etc. This orientation lasts anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks and our customers don’t pay for it. We’ll meet with them, do virtual calls with them, even do long phone calls, whatever it takes to get upto speed.

The resultant of M-Engage is always a ‘fine tuned’ vendor team.

Can MarTeck Consulting be cheaper than hiring an internal team?

That’s unfair! If you want to buy gold, do you pay Silver’s price? A good Marketing or sales team is an investment. And it should be treated that way.

However, to answer your question, on many occasions, we have in fact reduced the cost of hiring, retaining, and managing internal bandwidth by as much as 30%. There are two specific reasons for this. First, is our geographical advantage. We’re based in Pune, India – also called the Oxford of the East. With over 200 top level engineering and management institutes, this access to a rich pool of technology savvy individuals makes our resource management far less complicated.

The second reason is our innovative compensation structures and team builds. MarTeckers, like the business itself, participate in the business and earn through successful completion of projects. This unique compensation model has ensured low attrition at MarTeck Consulting within the last 2 years.

How do you guys know about domains and niche technologies? Who are your mentors?

A lot of our learning comes in house. We engage a significant bandwidth in knowledge acquisition through all sorts of media. Above this, we’ve got some grey haired men who’ve been there – done that. These individuals form an layer of knowledge support when we need them.

But, the biggest portion of our learning comes from our customers. We’re not exactly supermen – but because the underlying knowledge of various technologies exists, we find it much easier to grab onto new concepts and climb the knowledge tree.

What kind of people do you hire?

Our hiring process is very stringent. Sometimes I feel getting into NASA might be easier. We’re looking for three qualities within individuals – ability to push the boundaries of creativity, involvement, and sheer diligence.

Every member of our team is an engineer with at least some experience in technology marketing or sales. A fresher is looked at with skepticism, but we like to bet on unconventionality. It’s a risk we’ve learnt to handle and benefit from.
